Manchester United Transfer Talk #7
TOP STORY: Schweinsteiger off to Man United
Manchester United have gotten their man, or at least that's the word from German tabloid Bild, which reports that the 20-time English champions have agreed a deal for Bastian Schweinsteiger. Our Gab Marcotti points out that Bild has very strong ties to Bayern Munich, so this story could well have legs.
The report goes on to say that United will pay the Bavarians up to €20 million for the World Cup winner, whose contract expires after the 2015-16 season. On top of a relatively hefty transfer fee for a 30-year-old with just a year remaining on his contract, Louis van Gaal will pay Schweinsteiger €10 million a year for the privilege of reuniting with his former boss.
So, what does that mean for the Red Devils' long-standing pursuit of Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin? Well, it probably diminishes his chances of moving to Old Trafford.
